At present, I have couple of new research projects in the theme of Bacterial Antibiotics Resistance, which are well imbedded within Biomedical and Pharmaceutical industries.

Applications are invited for a bursary to complete a Research Master’s degree (MRes) in Bioscience, with leading researcher in the Infections and Immunity Research group; part in the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience, at the University of East London. Our vision is to provide a vibrant and dynamic environment for cutting edge research which enhances knowledge and supports global health and wellbeing.
Unlike traditional MSc courses, the University of East London’s MRes Bioscience is designed specifically to provide students with the best opportunity to develop and demonstrate key skills for a career in research (see www.uel.ac.uk/postgraduate/courses/mres-bioscience for details). Combining taught elements and an extensive research project, you will study towards your MRes on the project named above, under the supervision of Dr Ababou in exploring the challenges of bacterial antibiotic resistance.
The Award
The bursary on offer is open only to Home/EU applicants, for our 1 year full-time MRes Bioscience programme. The bursary covers the full-time course fee of £5,110 and core research costs (bench fees) up to a total of £6,000. Living costs are not covered (UK/EU applicants may be eligible for a postgraduate loan through Student Finance England, see www.gov.uk/postgraduate-loan).
Requirements
Applicants must have a good honours degree in a relevant field of Bioscience (e.g. 2.1 or higher; or international equivalent). Evidence of undertaking a practical, primary research project is essential. Applicants must also have excellent communication skills and a very high level of written and spoken English. Where English is not the applicant’s first language, a minimum IELTS Academic English score of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in all components is required.
